Romney's Taking a Beating ;;
Friday, January 13, 2012, [0] Add notes Jan, 11, 2012 JIM RUTENBERG and JEFF ZELENY New York Times Page: 1 Topic : Politics & Government Title: Republican Rivals Batter Romney in South Carolina "How far are they willing to go?" Romney's character and his beliefs were attacked ruthlessly by the other candidates by due process when he won New Hampshire, through the use of various adds, and darts to his ability. Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich aimed to portray him as 'insufficiently steadfast' in his conservative state, bringing new meaning to 'hot' on the table this week. There were some signers from the Romnerators, that forced opponents to re-think their attacks. Apparently, Romney likes firing people according to Huntsman. "'If you have creative destruction in capitalism, which has always been part of capitalism, it becomes a little disingenuous to take on Bain Capital,'" Romney used his attacks to create retorts and backlash and used resources that no-one else could compete against. In the morning, Mr. Romney had declared the attacks against his business background a failure. ***** I don't like Romney, and this amuses me exponentially. I think it's strange for Gingrich to continue to aim his attacks at him however, i believe that if his attention was better placed toward the election, that he would have ended up on higher terms during the caucus. This says something about Romney however because he stopped focusing on the other candidates as soon as he realized the caucus' would be soon. I think he's very smart for this, which is why i believe will keep him at the top of the race. I couldn't really catch a tone from the author, but i think that it's non-biased. In public, Romney seems to be winning. The candidates seem to get more desperate. and well, we'll see how this turns for the South Carolina primary this week.
